Alpaca MarchNewsletter

We've got lots of alpacas bounding around the paddocks. We are always open for people to see alpacas, and we invite you to come along and see our new girls for sale - both imports and New Zealand born - as well as our wether boys.

New Females for Sale

We've got another import of alpacas newly arrived on the property from Eringa Park Cambridge stud in Australia.

This includes top Accoyo females, mated to top sires. As well as top show quality whites, we have also sourced some excellent coloured alpacas in brown, fawn and grey.

Our New Zealand born alpacas are of equal standard, using similar genetics, with the added benefit of our famed Hemingway son, Brutus being in many of the lines. We have females, and several with cria at foot, available to be released from our herd.

We're open 24/7 so give us a call and drop by to see them,

Huacaya Studs Specialists

With cria pronking, our studs have an air of expectation ! Our 2005/2006 Stud Booklet lists almost 30 studs, many available nationwide, travelling around the Alpaca Services Network.

We have a range of top studs and the names of Brutus, Irraquoy and MoonShine are heard often, and their quality reflected in their progeny in the showring. Their sons are now also standing at stud.

Brutus's progeny are new to the stud stable - Champion Julius, and his ribbon-winning brothers Zeus, Lennon, and Senator. They have high amplitude, high frequency crimp, with high curve - a high curve means more crimps per inch, a fibre feature that means fineness and less micron blowout.

Irraquoy's first progeny are winners ! NZ Southern Chief Big Foot ,many times a champion, is now standing at stud.

Moon Shine's progeny continue to shine. Two of his top sons are NZ Southern Equinox (who was recently Champion Senior at Ellesmere), and NZ Southern Tucson Gold, who won Champion Senior at Rotorua Show 2005 and Franklin Show 2005 and his fleece won Champion at Auckland Royal Easter Show 2004.

Alpaca Services Network members own and/or manage studs with us, providing a real local service with the stud service. Our stud boys work all year round, and there is a Stud Location Guide on our website, to see when our stud boys are in your area to benefit from these genetics.

CAMELIDynamics Courses

We are delighted that Marty McGee Bennett from USA is in NZ in 2006 holding Camelid Training workshops. Marty has been leading the way in training and handling alpacas and llamas for many years.

We highly recommend her courses and we are hosting her workshops in the South Island February 28th and March 1st.

  • Pukekohe Saturday 18 March
  • Pukekohe Sunday 19 March
  • Taranaki Saturday 6 May
