Accoyo America Paramount takes his place with Brutus as a lead white male at Southern Alpacas Stud.

Mike Saffley states that the two males to imprint themselves on the world alpaca arena are Hemingway and Caligula.

And Paramount brings the famous Caligula genetics, being his grandson. Paramount is the only Caligula genetic in NZ, and one of few in Australasia.

Pedigree: Paramount's dam is 5Peruvian Chachani, a white peruvian. His grandsire is the reknown PPeruvian Caligula and his sire is the legendary Pacific Crest Alpacas Accoyo El Nino.  El Nino is in such demand that Pacific Crest Alpacas (PCA) raised his stud fee to $US10,000, before he was withdrawn, and kept for in-house use only. Recent auctioned stud fees have reached $14,000.

El Nino has an impressive show record. In 2006 at AOBA, where 2,200 alpacas were shown, his progeny took many ribbons, including Champion White Female and Reserve Champion White Male. Paramount is one of three "horsemen" that Pacific Crest used to promote El Nino in progeny classes.

El Nino won reserve Herd Sire of the Year Award for light huacaya at the Futurity Show and Sale in USA in May 2006. This is for the sire whose progeny gain the most points from show results all year. El Nino was the AOBA National Get of Sire 2004, and 2001 Senior Champion at the International Alpaca Odyssey show.

Paramount's first shear was 17.4 µ, 3.5 sd, 19.5 % cv and a spin fineness of 16 µ. He has broader crimp, high lustre and fine handle. He has SRS style fleece.

Progeny:

We are delighted with Paramount's first cria. They have a real presence, with a density of fleece.

They have been much admired, and a pairing of his progeny took 3rd in Sires Progeny at South Otago Show in Balclutha 2008.

Paramount now has over 20 cria in New Zealand, mainly the lighter fawns and whites.
